God often gets blamed for the bad stuff that happens in life, but once in a while I have to say, “Only God could have done that!”
~Check This One~
At 6:45 AM every Thursday, Dave picks up Jim to go to a men’s Bible study, followed by breakfast with the guys. While they’re eating, Ron’s daughter calls, wanting her dad to fetch a horse from down near the Cape, for her Derby Talk Riding Academy—a long way. Jim asks to go along. Sure, says Ron, and off they go, horse trailer in tow.
Before they leave, however, Dave calls. just to make sure it would be okay with me. Sounds really good, as Jim badly needs this sort of outing. Then I remember: Aaaugh! I have a PT appointment at 10:00 and depend on Jim getting me there! WAY too sad.
I tell Dave, and he thinks a moment, then asks, “Is your appointment with Joe at Recesso?”
“Yes!” I say.
“That’s…ten o’clock???”
Yes.”
“I have an appointment with Joe at 10:30!”
WHOOEE!!! Who’d a thunk?
We get there at 10 and tell Joe the story. He says, “Did you guys work this out ahead of time??”
“Nope. On the spot.”
Joe praises God with us.
After a 285-mile round trip, Ron and Jim get back, hauling the new horse. Everybody is happy!
My times are in your hands. (Psalm 31:15)
In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. (Psalm 37:19)
The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. (Nahum 1:7)
Prayer happens, even at riding academies!

Beautiful reminder to everyone that God is with us and by our side. We just have to listen so he can do his grace in our lives
Thanks, Liz. Even in our hard times, God is there with us. But don’t you love these little glimpses of His love?
God provides the timing for sure. When I moved to my current state of DE, I searched far and wide for a church that felt like home. My brother in TN, long ago saved, was talking to me on the phone. I told him about my dilemma. Very shortly after he sent me a link to a church associated with the one he used to attend in another state. It was not 3 miles from me and I never knew it was there. It has since been my home. God works in mysterious ways for sure.
Thanks much, Tess, for sharing your story. I love seeing/hearing God’s love! 🙂
My daughter bought a small house in Florida two years ago. She did not make much of a life for herself down there and called me often to tell me how lonely she was. This broke my heart and had me really worn down and sleepless. She decided to put her house on the market back in March. The first buyer for her home ended up backing out of the sale which put my daughter further away from her expected date to return home.
I have been praying as well as the West Church prayer team to God to help us get my daughter’s house sold so she could come home. My request was that she come home in time to go to the West Church concert in Salisbury. She eventually did sell her home and move back and just in time to make the West Church concert !!! Amazing !!!
We are both very happy.

Sherry, that makes me cry! I had heard much of the story but not the concert part. Thank you, Lord! 🙂
Thank you so much, Ellie.
What we see as problems to us is not a problem to God. In the Bible, we sometimes find it hard to believe or comprehend why God allows diseases and problems. I used to see some texts in the Bible as not fitting well or inconsistent with its truths. As a young believer in Christ, before joining a Bible College, I used to believe that some parts of Scripture didn’t make sense, and I shrugged it off to go to familiar texts with no problems at all to me within the Bible. But, with time I started to dig deeper to understand why such complicated texts are in the Scriptures and, truly, every part of the Bible is inspired. And now, I fully know and believe in Him, who controls everything. We are within God’s timing, and He is in control.
Thanks much, Hillary, for your insight on the difficult texts of the Bible. We learn as we age, don’t we? God is good, even when things are dark.
