Are you as fascinated as I by the Big Bang? It wasn’t an explosion. Explosions blow things apart. The Big Bang blew things together. Within milliseconds, many design elements were in place and fully programmed. Our Creator God planted a period on a blank page and said, START! BE! LIVE! Over the course of 13.8 billion years, this tiny, hot universe has been expanding to inconceivable size.
Then there’s Dark Energy—a self-stretching fabric or surface over the entire universe. The greater the expansion, the more stretching energy it gains.
The Big Bang has been described as the most exquisitely designed entity known to man. Any slight change in the laws of physics would make life impossible. The very placement of our sun in a “safe” area of our Milky Way galaxy makes Earth the only researched planet hospitable to life.
Yes, but TWO Big Bangs? I am proposing that the Incarnation of God as a baby is the equivalent of the physical Big Bang. It started small—a virgin’s seed, again the size of a period, fertilized by Holy Spirit sperm. Consider the magnitude of the spiritual universe it spawned, expanding from Jesus’ day to 2019! With the entire globe now involved, God’s Dark Energy stretches and protects every spiritual cell. Do bad things happen under that covering? Yes. From Adam on, evil continues to spawn wars, national conflicts, religious persecution, and ignorance.
BUT GOD, with His second Big Bang, entered our sphere, and the Grand Design DOES include His final act, when He returns to set things right.
“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven . . . coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. (Matthew 24: 30, selected verses)
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. . . I heard a loud voice saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21: 1-4 (selected verses)
“IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD…”
What’s your take on this concept? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Makes perfect sense to me. I have been saying similar things for years.
Insightful thoughts. I love the power of our God to create, to dwell with us, and to one day set things “right”. (Can’t wait to see what that will look like!) Thank you, Eleanor, for this post.
Great post, Ellie, and definitely food for thought. Our God is an amazing God!
Terrific Analogy!
Excellent blog, Ellie. It makes sense to me.
I agree with your analogy. The mysterious miracles performed by our Lord are definitely awe inspiring. Thank you for these observations.
Matthew’s account of Jesus’ warning of the end of this creation (and the ushering in of the New Creation), with the sky rolling up like a scroll and all that – now that’s a big bang.
Yup, Sally, that’s the “counting” part of my Big Bang theory. The Biggest Bang of all! Thanks!
